You can find the Bible stories covered here.

Can the Bible story content be used as a stand alone resource?

Friends and Heroes was created to put Bible stories into a real life context which makes clear their meaning and their application. Each episode of Friends and Heroes is an adventure story set in 69-71AD. The characters include Friends of Jesus who are in conflict with the Romans under the rule of the Roman Empire at that time. As they struggle with important life or death decisions they tell a Bible story (a story that has been handed down through their families) to help them understand what to do next. Each clip from the Bible is shown in hyper-realistic computer generated animation and is narrated by our adventure story characters. When using the DVDs in a learning situation, in School or Church, each lesson usually involves watching around 10-13 minutes of the DVD.

Will there be a Series 4?

Series 3 completes the Friends and Heroes story; so no further series are being planned.

I have finished all three series! What next?

We would recommend that you consider What's in the Bible? DVDs as a follow-up to Friends and Heroes. This DVD series from Phil Vischer, the co-creator of VeggieTales, looks at the story OF the Bible rather than stories FROM the Bible. It is very funny, fast-paced and appeals to both children and adults. We sell What's in the Bible? on our International Store here.

I have some of your DVDs and would like to show Friends and Heroes in public

You will need to purchase an annual Public Display Licence from our store www.friendsandheroes.com/pdl which will allow you to show any of our DVDs in public (as Friends and Heroes is not covered by any other licensing scheme). However, if your DVDs are from the same series and you have proof of purchase for your DVDs, we may be able to upgrade your purchase to an Organisation Series Pack which will then mean that you are licensed for public showings as part of the upgrade and you are given access to all our lesson materials. Please contact us to discuss your options [email protected] or in the USA/Canada contact us via [email protected] or by telephone at 903-457-9000.

Can Friends and Heroes be supplied to a Lending Library?

A Resource Library would need to purchase an Annual Lending Licence and this cost would be from £250 per annum (covering 50 members). The DVDs held in the library could then be loaned for home use only, as the DVDs are not covered by any other public display licensing scheme such as CCLI. For full information please refer to the Public Display Licence page on our store www.friendsandheroes.com/pdl or contact us [email protected].

I’ve previously used Storykeepers. How does Friends and Heroes compare?

Storykeepers consists of 13 episodes and is a great resource concentrating mainly on the New Testament. Friends and Heroes have 39 episodes and these cover a mixture of Old and New Testament stories - check out the stories covered.  Based in a fascinating and turbulent period of history, 69-71AD, Friends and Heroes places Bible stories in a vivid historical context. It uses animated adventure stories to introduce a new generation of children, whatever their faith, to the stories of the Old and New Testaments in an appealing, fresh and memorable way. Children love the stories: "Friends and Heroes rocks!" said one recent e-mail. Boys are strongly attracted by the central male characters, the danger and the exciting action! Incidentally, Brian Brown, one of the creators of Storykeepers, was also one of the creators of Friends and Heroes.

Who sings the title track?

The sound track for Friends and Heroes, 'Looking for a Hero', is sung by Lauren Waterworth and is available from our store.

Why are the Bible Stories not in chronological order?

Friends and Heroes was created to put Bible stories into a real life context making their meaning and their application easy for children to understand. Each episode is an animated adventure story set between AD69-71 and the characters include 'Friends of Jesus' who are in conflict with the Romans and under the rule of the Roman Empire, at that time. As they struggle with important life or death decisions, they tell a Bible story (a story that has been handed down through their families) to help them make the right choices. So rather than presenting the stories in Bible order they are drawn, from the Bible, specifically to help the characters cope with an issue occurring in the adventure story.

The episodes are too long to use in my group

Each clip from the Bible is narrated by our adventure story characters and is shown in hyper-realistic computer generated animation to clearly differentiate between this and the adventure story shown in traditional, drawn animation. For the lesson to be learnt from each Bible story it is necessary to watch around 10-15 minutes of the DVD, not a whole episode.

How will the children in my group know which is the Bible Story?

Cartoon-style, drawn animation mixes seamlessly to computer generated animation during the Bible stories. These two styles of animation are very different and appealing to children, but still create a clear difference between the Biblical element and exciting adventure stories helping to make this production such a fresh and memorable resource.

In which languages can I watch Friends and Heroes?

All three series (13 episodes in each series) are available at our online store in Multi Language DVD versions: The ten languages on each DVD are Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, German, Hindi/Urdu, Korean, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian and Spanish (South American). We also have special DVD sets in Italian and Manx, again you will find these at our storeView clips in each language.
